Some countries chose to remain indifferent to terrorist attacks in Azerbaijan

Some countries remained indifferent when terrorist attacks occurred in Azerbaijan, according to Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, the chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office.

“When the Khojaly genocide was committed, we informed the entire world about it. This was the onset of terror,” Pashazade noted on November 16.

He made the remarks while commenting on the recent terrorist attacks in France’s capital city, Paris, which resulted in a major loss of human lives.

Pashazade stated that under the mantle of religious slogans, some people in the Islamic world commit acts of terror; however, this is in no way related to Islam.

Numerous terrorist attacks were conducted in Paris on Nov. 13-14. Four gunmen systematically slaughtered at least 89 young people attending a rock concert at the Bataclan music hall.

Some 40 more people were killed in five other attacks in the Paris region, including an apparent double suicide bombing outside the national stadium where French President Hollande and German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier were watching a friendly international soccer match.

As many as 129 people have died in the aftermath of a string of terror attacks in Paris, while 99 out of the 352 injured are in a critical condition.

Pashazade believes that some forces want to defame Islam in the world under the guise of religion.

“France has always supported peace, and it is one of the leading countries in the fight against terrorism. The terrorist groups have not accidentally chosen France as a target. I believe that the French government will not step back from its path and will continue to combat terrorism,” Pashazade affirmed.

He emphasized that terrorism has no nationality and religion.

Pashazade further pointed out that some countries did not pay attention to the terrorist acts committed in Azerbaijan.

“During the events that unfolded on January 20, 1990 in Baku, we appealed to all parliaments of all countries, however, they did not listen to us. The terrorist acts that have been recently committed in Lebanon and France are a continuation of these incidents. I regret that the leaders of several countries uphold the state’s interests above the issues related to terrorism,” Pashazade said.
