Slain Soma miners commemorated in New York

NEW YORK (CIHAN)- A commemoration ceremony was held in New York for 302 miners who were killed at a mine blast in the western province of Manisa’s Soma town in New York.

Gathering at Union Square, a large group of people stood a minute of silence and made an explanation. Speaking on behalf of the group, lawyer Arda BeIkardeI stated that miners work under very harsh conditions and earn around $ 600 monthly.

Another demonstrator told Cihan news agency that individuals who are responsible for the explosion should be taken into account.

The group had some placards at their hands saying “Deaths in Soma, neither apologize nor resignation from the government”, “Soma is not fate, it is a systematic murder”.
