Siyavush Novruzov: US has not yet made statement on return of Azerbaijan’s occupied territories

Baku: A proposal to make an appeal to the co-chair countries of the OSCE Minsk Group and other topical issues have been discussed at today’s meeting of the Azerbaijani Parliament.

Deputy Executive Secretary of New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), MP Siyavush Novruzov commented on the recent parliamentary elections in Ukraine and touched up the U.S. attitude toward this issue, APA reports.

Novruzov mentioned that immediately after the Ukrainian parliamentary elections, the U.S. made a statement that the elections were fair, transparent and honest and Ukraine will return the Crimea.

“We don’t interfere with these elections, this is their internal affair. However, we cannot remain silent to this approach by the U.S. Everyone knows under what conditions the elections were held and didn’t take place throughout the country. However, the U.S. which promotes democracy and justice in the world made a statement that the elections were held fairly and it will provide assistance for Ukraine to return Crimea. The U.S., as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, hasn’t made a statement on return of Azerbaijan’s occupied territories for more than 20 years. It has not made such a statement on the numerous democratic elections in Azerbaijan. This is the striking example of the dual policy by international organizations and leading states. Therefore, we propose the parliament to appeal to the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries, demanding clarification of this issue”, Novruzov said.
