Serbian parliamentary vice-speaker: Azerbaijani election held under conditions of transparency and tolerance

Baku: The delegation of Serbian MPs has held a press conference on the parliamentary election held in Azerbaijan.

The Serbian Parliament’s vice-speaker, Vladimir Marinković, said the 5-person delegation observed the process in six polling stations in Baku, noting that the election was silent, transparent, and democratic.

“This is an example of stability and development in Azerbaijan. Our approach is that human rights and democratic principles were maintained in this election, and international standards were observed,” he said.

Marinković added that they talked to both candidates and voters, and also observed the counting of ballots.

“The election was observed by international organizations as well as representatives of European and Asian countries. Communicating with them, we made certain that the election was held under the conditions of transparency and tolerance. We think that it’s indicative of democratic development in Azerbaijan. We do hope that with the new parliament, ties between our countries will strengthen further,” he said.
