Prosecutor decides non-prosecution in case of rocket warheads seized near Syrian border

Deputies elected in the Nov. 1 election will take their oath in Parliament on Tuesday, getting the ball rolling for the formation of the new government.
The oath-taking will also start the process for the election of the parliament speaker as the political parties represented in Parliament are required to submit their candidates for the post within five days of the oath-taking session.
Parliament will convene for the oath-taking at 3 p.m.
Deniz Baykal, a deputy of the main opposition Republican Peopleand’s Party (CHP), will chair the swearing-in session as the oldest deputy in Parliament.
The first round of voting for the speaker is expected to be held either on Sunday or Monday of next week.
A qualified majority of 367 votes are needed for a candidate to be elected speaker in the first two rounds.
Should no candidate manage to get the number of votes required, the candidates will be required to get an absolute majority — 276 votes in the 550-seat Parliament — in the third round.
In the fourth and final round, in which only the two candidates who won the most votes in the previous round will run, it will be enough for a candidate to get the majority of votes cast to be elected as speaker.
The Justice and Development Party (AK Party), which has 317 seats in Parliament, is expected to see its candidate easily win Turkeyand’s number two post after that of the president.
While the voting process continues for the parliament speaker, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected to authorize AK Party leader Ahmet Davutoilu to forge the new Cabinet on Wednesday.
The vote of confidence for the new government is to be held in Parliament on Nov. 28.
Turkey had an early election on Nov. 1 following the AK Partyand’s failure, as the party which had obtained the most deputies in the general election in June, to forge a coalition government.
