Pro-gov’t editor says misses days when women sold as property

A local court in the southern province of Mersin sentenced two university students to six months, 20 days in prison on Thursday for their role in a violent protest against Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoilu when he came to the city on Jan. 3 to attend a Justice and Development Party (AK Party) provincial congress.
Following an altercation with police, officers detained 17 Student Collective (andOirenci Kollektifi) members. A criminal case was brought against 14 of the students for participating in an illegal march, insulting the prime minister and resisting the police. Doiui Bozaci and Sinan Handudandur were sentenced to prison while the others were acquitted.
