President Aliyev: Int’l observers confirm election was transparent, fair in Azerbaijan

Baku: The parliamentary election which was held in Azerbaijan on Nov.1 was transparent and fair, and international observers too confirm it, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.

President Aliyev made the remarks at the first session of Azerbaijan’s parliament of the fifth convocation on Nov.24.

Congratulating the elected MPs on the beginning of the first session of the 5th convocation parliament, the head of state noted that the Nov.1 parliamentary election reflects the will of the Azerbaijani people.

He said that with this election Azerbaijan has taken another successful step toward democracy.

“Azerbaijan is committed to democracy and all democratic institutions in the country operate successfully. The development process the country has been undergoing over recent years has influenced this election’s results as well,” the president added.

President Ilham Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan’s international influence is growing and the country is now known as a reliable partner in the world.

“Azerbaijan’s economy is developing at high pace, manifesting itself in the lives of the citizens. Azerbaijan has also made crucial attainments in dealing with poverty and unemployment. And all these achievements rely on stability,” said the president.
