Peshmerga fighters, leaving for Kobani, arrive in Duhok

ERBIL: A convoy of Peshmerga fighters reached Duhok during their journey to reach Syrian Kurdish town of Kobani, which is under attack by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), via Turkey.

According to Turkish local time, the convoy left Iraq at around 2 p.m. Some ambulances and military vehicles are being taken with the convoy in fight against the ISIL. The fighters raised Kurdistan flags while they were passing through Duhok with jeeps and trucks loaded with ammunition.

Entering Turkey from the Habur border gate near the Silopi district of Sırnak, the convoy will follow Ipek Yolu Highway that connects Silopi to Habur, and will enter Kobani from Suruc town of Sanlıurfa. The Peshmerga forces are expected to arrive in Kobani on early Wednesday.
