Parviz Hashimli sentenced to 8 year-imprisonment

Baku: Shahriyar Alizadeh; Baku Court of Grave Crimes has completed the hearing on the case of imprisoned Parviz Hashimli, the correspondent of the Bizim yol newspaper and Tavakkul Gurbanov.

APA reports that the court passed a judgment at the hearing. Parviz Hashimli was sentenced to 8 years in prison and Tavakkul Gurbanov to 8 years 6 months.

The public prosecutor demanded 9-year imprisonment for Parviz Hashimli and Tavakkul Gurbanov.

Parviz Hashimli was arrested by employees of the Ministry of National Security on September 17. He faces charges over Criminal Code’s articles #206.3.2 (smuggling) and 228.2.1 (illegal acquisition and storage of firearms). Sabail District Court sentenced him to pre-trial detention.
