Moscow says its position on Karabakh conflict settlement remains unchanged

Moscow’s position on the settlement process of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains unchanged, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Nov.13.

She made the remarks commenting on recent media reports that during his meetings with Armenian authorities in Yerevan, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed the issue of returning the districts adjacent to Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijan.

FM Lavrov gave information about the meeting with his Armenian counterpart in Yerevan during an open press conference, Zakharova said.

“I can not say anything other than what has been mentioned in this statement. I think there is no need to aggravate the situation. For information, you can review the FM’s speech which was posted on the ministry’s website,” she added.

The spokeswoman said that Russia support close ties with both Azerbaijan and Armenia in the negotiation process over the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict’s settlement.

“Moscow’s position on the conflict settlement remains unchanged. This position has been proven several times. We hope that our current position would soothe the Armenian side,” she noted.
