MHP nominates Yusuf HalaoIlu for Parliament speaker position

Feyzi iibaiaran, a former Justice and Development Party (AK Party) deputy, has been fined TL 10,600 for insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on social media.
The Cihan news agency reported on Wednesday that the former deputyand’s trial took place at the Ankara 29th Penal Court of First Instance and was attended by both iibaiaran and Erdoganand’s lawyers.
iibaiaranand’s lawyer requested that the court rule for his clientand’s acquittal and that his tweets that were the subject of the trial be considered criticism however, the court ruled that iibaiaran had clearly insulted the president, handing down a prison sentence of one year, five months and 15 days that was subsequently commuted to a fine of TL 10,600.
iibaiaran was arrested on Dec. 8, 2014 for posting tweets that allegedly insulted Erdogan and was released pending trial on Jan. 20 of this year.
