Media unions walk to support arrested journalists Dundar, Gul in İstanbul

Independent Journalists Platform, Pak Media Labor Union and a lot of journalists jointly held a rally to support Can Dundar and Erdem Gul, who were arrested on charges of being a member of a terrorist organization, espionage and revealing confidential documents concerning to Turkish national intelligence service (MİT) trucks, on Nov. 26, in İstanbul on Sunday.

The supporters walked from Cevahir Shopping Mall, located in Sisli district, to the headquarters of Cumhuriyet daily. Chanting slogans as ‘Can will be free and write again’, ‘Erdem will be free and write again’, ‘Pressures cannot overawe us’, ‘free media cannot be silenced’, the group carried banner ‘We are the servants of truth, we will not surrender’ written on it.

Republican People’s Party (CHP) vice chairman Enis Berberoglu, CHP general secretary Gursel Tekin, CHP Eskisehir deputy Utku Cakirozer and many significant journalists were among the participants at rally.
