Killed officer of Azerbaijani Armed Forces Fikret Mammadov buried in second Alley of Martyrs

Baku: Officer of the Armed Forces, Captain Fikret Mammadov Akif killed on the frontline in Fuzuli region has been buried today in the second Alley of Martyrs.

APA reports that relatives of the martyr, servicemen and officials of the Defense Ministry attended the burial ceremony.

Head of Department of Emotional and Psychological Readiness and Public Relations of the Defense Ministry, Colonel Rufat Amirov offered condolences to the family of the martyr on behalf of the Defense Ministry’s leadership at the ceremony. He said that Mammadov entered Azerbaijan High Military School named after Heydar Aliyev in 2001. After graduating the school, he served as an infantry platoon commander. Under the order of the President of Azerbaijan, Captain Mammadov was awarded with “For military services medal”, “90th and 95th anniversary” medals of Azerbaijani Armed Forces, the 3rd class medal “For distinguished military service”.

“Defense Minister sent a presentation to the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on awarding Captain Fikret Mammadov Akif “For Courage” medal for his courage in the protection of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan,” said Amirov.

Captain Mammadov, who lost his parents, had a daughter and a son.

The martyr’s coffin covered with the Azerbaijani flag was raised with the participation of military orchestra and Guard of Honor. In accordance with the rituals, fire was opened into the air. A wreath was laid at his grave on behalf of the Ministry of Defense and the military unit.

After the burial ceremony, Major General Hikmet Mirzeyev presented the military unit of the martyr Mammadov and the Azerbaijani flag to his family.
