Journalist pardoned for the second time in Azerbaijan

Baku: A journalist has been pardoned for the second time in Azerbaijan.

APA reports that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has today signed an order pardoning several convicts.

Journalist Faramaz Novruzoglu (Allahverdiyev) is among them.

Nizami District Court sentenced Faramaz Novruzoglu to 4 years 6 months in prison on August 22, 2012.

Faramaz was arrested on April 12, 2012. He faced charges under articles # 220.2 (appeals to active insubordination to legal requirements of representatives of authority and to mass disorders, as well as appeals to violence above citizens) and # 318.1 (crossing of protected frontier of the Azerbaijan Republic without established documents).

Faramaz Novruzoglu was arrested several times. He was pardoned under the order of the Azerbaijani President in 2007.
