Iran’s Rouhani cancels visit to Italy and France over Paris attacks

Two reporters working for pro-Kurdish outlets were arrested on Saturday for and”insultingand” President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and and”terrorist propagandaand” after they were detained by the police in the eastern town of Ercii a day ago.
Dicle News Agency (DiHA) reporter idris Yilmaz and Jin News Agency (JiNHA) reporter Vildan Atmaca were detained along with two reporters from the iMC television channel on Friday. DiHA said the reporters were taken into custody as they were covering a news story.
Video footage posted online showed police firing shots in the air to disperse a crowd that protested the detention of the journalists.

The iMC reporters were released following questioning by a prosecutor, while Yilmaz and Atmaca were referred to a court, which ruled for their arrest.
It was not immediately clear what the reporters were covering. Ercii, a town in the eastern province of Van, was the scene of clashes on Friday between security forces and the terrorist Kurdistan Workersand’ Party (PKK), in which one soldier was killed and three others were injured.

Police received complaints regarding Facebook posts by Celal K. (39), alleging the posts insulted Erdogan. In response, police detained Celal K. on Saturday, referring him to a local court. Following a hearing, the cook was arrested on grounds of insulting the president. He was jailed pending trial by the court under Article 299 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK), which mandates that anyone convicted of insulting the president be sentenced to between one and four years in prison.
