Ilham Aliyev: ‘No foreign country can influence Azerbaijan’s domestic and foreign policy’

Baku: President of France François Hollande and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev have responded to a question about the impact of the Ukrainian crisis on Azerbaijan’s rapprochement with the European Union.

François Hollande said his visit to Baku is not aimed against any country, APA reports.

He stressed that he wants every country to freely state their position: “We are not against Azerbaijan’s partnership with any country. There are some agitating issues, including the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Georgia also has such problems”.

President Ilham Aliyev in turn said there is a fine dialogue between Azerbaijan and the European Union: “We have political and economical relations with the European Union. Azerbaijan’s projects on energy security are supported by the European Union. No other country can influence our actions on domestic and foreign policy. Azerbaijan pursues an independent policy. We are conducting political and economical reforms”.
