French President: “The economic growth in Azerbaijan is very high”

Baku: “I’m very pleased to be in the French Lyceum. This lyceum will play an important role in development of relations between our countries”, said French President François Hollande in the opening ceremony of the French Lyceum in Baku, APA reports.

Hollande thanked President Ilham Aliyev and President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva for their contribution to the development of France-Azerbaijan relations and said that 350 students will study in the lyceum. He regarded the visit as a response to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s visit in 2012. “Azerbaijan has assisted in the opening of the department in the Louvre museum. The Louvre museum includes the samples of world culture”.

The French President noted that Baku will soon become one of the world’s greatest and most beautiful cities. “We intend to cooperate with Azerbaijan in the fields of urban development and transport along with energy”, the President said.

Hollande stated that France is ready to receive Azerbaijani students. “We will build a new centre in Paris, which are ready to receive students from Azerbaijan. This lyceum has a vision of the Eiffel Tower and the Maiden Tower. We understood what you meant by that. First, it shows your history. Second, you want to maintain the independence as well. The economic growth in Azerbaijan is very high. We would like to see such a development and conditions in Europe. This is the main goal of today’s visit. I discovered a lot in Azerbaijan during my first visit”.

The French President expressed his confidence that a number of students will study in this lyceum from September.
