French granny Yvonne: “I kissed French President ten times”

Baku: French President Francois Hollande, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, met with French granny Yvonne Botto-Shirmammadova residing in Imishli region.

APA TV reports that granny Yvonna, being pleased at meeting with the President, said that her son was firstly called about the meeting. She informed that French president wanted to meet with her and invited her to Baku. Granny Yvonne shared his impressions with APA TV: “I don’t believe that he will meet with me. We talked for a long time. He approached to me, hugged and kissed. I also kissed him, approximately ten times. He kissed me too”.

Yvonne Botto-Shirmammadova said during the meeting they discussed a letter that she sent to the former French President Francois Mitterrand in 1991 in connection with her homecoming: “It turned out that he was aware of it. We spoke about the letter”.

French president Francois Hollande again invited Yvonne to her homeland, who visited France in 2011 with the help of the European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS). “He was aware of my visit to France. He invited me again. And I said that if I go I will find him”, the granny said.

She said that French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Pascal Meunier also attended the meeting and she talked to him about the issue of retirement.

86-year-old Yvonna Botto Jacque married in Azerbaijan in 1947.

Her husband, private soldier of the Soviet Army Shammad Shirmammadov was captivated by fascists in 1944 and taken to the prison camp in Italy. When the U.S. Army liberated Italy, he managed to escape. The private soldier who joined to French Freedom Movement became acquainted with her. Two years after the war, they married and came to Azerbaijan.
