The Diyarbakir Governor’s Office announced on Monday that security forces carried out a major operation in Dicle district of Diyarbakir, seizing large amount of ammunition and four Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorists dead while one of the security officers died.

A part of the operation and the seized ammunition are seen in the video. According to the written statement, security forces conducted operations in neighborhoods of Dicle Kuzeyi, Kursunlu, Kirkpinar and Kayas between Nov. 5-7 in order to seize shelters, storehouses, anti-aircraft sites and ammunition belonging to illegal organizations. During the operations, clashes broke out between the soldiers and PKK terrorists and four of them were seized dead along with their weapons. Two of the soldiers were injured as a result of the incident and one of them died at the hospital despite all medical efforts.

Large amount of ammunition was seized during the operations. Seventeen cylinders, electrical detonators, different kinds of explosive materials, huge numbers of bullets for various types of guns were some of the found materials.

Ever since a suicide bombing in Suruc district of Sanliurfa province killed 33 activists and injured 100 more on July 20, clashes involving the PKK have grown in number. Two police officers were executed by PKK members on July 22 in retaliation for the Turkish authorities’ perceived failure to prevent the Suruc attack. The violence and PKK-led attacks further escalated when Turkey carried out air strikes on PKK bases in neighboring northern Iraq.
