Former Senegal President disallowed to see jailed son

DAKAR (CIHAN)- Authorities did not let former Senegal President Abdoulaye Wade to visit his son who is serving a prison sentence on charge of corruption over a turmoil erupted in prison.

Wade, who has been living in France when he was defeated in the election in 2012, returned his country to see his son Karim Wade who served as minister before involving in corruption. Welcomed by hundreds of people Wade was taken to the prison under tight security measures, which escalated tension in the prison. When Wade persist his wish to visit his son, prison officials did not approve the visit due to security concerns.

Police fired tear gas during the clash and Wade was taken out of the prison.
