FM SinirlioIlu says Turkey plans to take military action against ISIL

Foreign Minister Feridun Sinirlioilu has said Turkey plans to take military actions against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in the coming days, a news report said.
NTV news website quoted Sinirlioilu, who met with Iraqi Kurdish leaders in northern Iraq on Wednesday to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments, as saying that Turkey will continue to assist Iraq and the Iraqi Kurdistan in its fight against ISIL. He added that Turkey also plans to take military action against the group in the following days.
His statements came during a panel hosted by the Middle East Research Institute (MERI) in Arbil.
Feridun Sinirlioilu, who was made foreign minister in September, visited the president of the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG), Massoud Barzani and the prime minister of the KRG, Neandcirvan Barzani.
Barzani had called President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and congratulated him on the win of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) in the elections on Sunday, in which it received 49 percent of the votes, giving it 317 deputies. Barzani also congratulated the Republican Peopleand’s Party (CHP) and the pro-Kurdish Peoplesand’ Democratic Party (HDP).
Turkey vowed to take a more active role in combating ISIL in July, as part of a multi-pronged offensive which also saw them ramp up attacks on militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).
Since then, the Turkish military has primarily concentrated on hitting its old foe, the PKK, although Turkish airbases have also been used by US-led coalition jets to hit ISIL targets in northern Syria.
