Festival on Wheels announces shorts, children’s films

More than 15 innovative short films from around the world will be offered in the and”Short Is Goodand” section of this yearand’s Festival on Wheels, the eventand’s organizers announced in a press release on Friday.
Festival on Wheels, Turkeyand’s annual traveling independent and art-house film extravaganza, will kick off its 21st edition next week in Ankara.
This yearand’s selection, which focuses on films produced in 2014 and 2015, will feature critically acclaimed shorts from Turkey that have debuted in prestigious festivals overseas during the past 11 months, including and”Tuesday,and” directed by Ziya Demirel, and”Mother Virgin No More,and” by Derya Durmaz, and and”The Jungle,and” by Doiu Akal and Onur Saylak.
The Ankara Cinema Association (ASD) on Friday also announced the lineup of this yearand’s Childrenand’s Films program, which features a selection from Norway. They include and”Pupiland’s Concert,and” a 2009 film by Jan Otto Ertesvandaring, and”Fishing With Sam,and” by Atle S. Blakseth, and”Jump,and” by Yngvild Sve Flikke, and”Warp,and” a 2012 film by Kristian Kim Larsen and Simon Furdal, and and”The Marathon Diary,and” a 2015 film by Hanne Berkaak.
The short films will be shown in four sessions, on Nov. 28, 29, 30 and Dec. 2, while the childrenand’s films are scheduled for Nov. 27, 30 and Dec. 1. Admission to the screenings of Short Is Good and childrenand’s films, both staples of the festivaland’s program every year, is free.
Young festival-goers between 8 and 12 years of age will also be offered an animation workshop held with support from the Austrian Embassy as part of the festival. The workshop will run from Nov. 28 to Dec. 2.
