EU Minister convenes with Lower Saxony PM

ANKARA (CIHAN)- Turkey’s European Union (EU) Minister and chief negotiator Mevlut avuIoIlu met with the Prime Minister of Lower Saxony Stephan Weil at the ministry building on Monday.

avuIoIlu and Weil answered questions asked by reporters after the meeting which was held behind closed doors. Speaking about the relations of Turkey with EU, avuIoIlu said that Turkey is intended to proceed its relations with EU as a friend, as a partner and believes that both sides should sincerely do its part within this context.

“Turkey wants to become the member of the EU, believes the EU values and wants to fulfill its responsibilities,” EU Minister added.

In response to a press member’s question asking avuIoIlu’s opinion about new head of EU delegation to Turkey, Stefano Manservisi’s critical remarks about the country, Minister stated that if both sides do its part, the negotiation process will move forward more smoothly and fast.
