Cleaning worker returns TL 75,000 he found at İstanbul airport

A man who works as a cleaning worker at İstanbul’s Ataturk Airport found TL 75,000 in a waste bin and returned the money to its owner.

Emrah Evrensel began to work at the VIP section of the airport two weeks ago. While working he found the money which is 75 fold of his salary. He gave the money to the airport officials rather than keeping it. Ataturk Airport Administrative Director and İstanbul Deputy Governor Mehmet Ali Ulutas presented him certificate of appreciation and TL 1,500 prize.

Speaking to reporters, Evrensel stated that nothing good can be found with a “haram” money so he decided to give the money to its owner. Ulutas stated that Evrensel is an example that Turkish people have not lost some virtues. “He presented a quite nice attitude. He may have met one of his crucial needs with that money but he gave it to the officials,” said Ulutas.
