Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister: ‘It was Serzh Sargsyan, the current president of Armenia, who’d given the order to invade Horadiz’

Baku: “Calculations at the level of international experts are underway. According to these calculations, the damage to the Fuzuli district as a result of occupation was AZN 31 bln, not 5.5 bln”, said Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov at the presentation ceremony of “With Confidence in a Great Victory” documentary about the liberation of Horadiz and 22 other villages of the Fuzuli district that was shot on the occasion of the 91st anniversary of Heydar Aliyev’s birthday, APA reported.

Ali Hasanov said it was not a coincidence that the Armenians invaded Horadiz: “Why did the Armenians invade the city of Horadiz? Because in Horadiz, there were regional oil resources, a grape processing plant, and a base for repairs of agricultural equipments. Second, the districts of Fuzuli, Jabrail, and Zangilan were also to be encircled with the invasion of Horadiz. Third, the Armenians were seeking an easy way to Iran as there was a dam. Horadiz was intersected by two main transportation arteries—the Baku-Yerevan highway and railway. And Lele Tepe therein was an important strategic settlement as well, because it overlooks Beylagan and Imishli. It was why Heydar Aliyev had given the order to attack in this direction. The Armenians faced three times more casualties than us. A soldier of ours was martyred. And it was Serzh Sargsyan, the current president of Armenia, who’d given the order to invade Horadiz. But Heydar Aliyev has freed our lands without any military equipment.
