Azerbaijani Ministry of Education comments on U.S. Ambassador’s opinions about corruption in education

Baku: The Azerbaijani Ministry of Education has commented on U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar’s opinions about problems of corruption in the education of Azerbaijan.

Education Ministry told APA that Richard Morningstar’s statement caused a great surprise and regret in the Ministry: “Education Minister Mikayil Jabbarov held 3 working meetings with the U.S. Ambassador after being appointed to this position and all three meetings were held at the request of the Ambassador. The education reforms, study abroad, student exchanges and cooperation between higher education institutions were discussed at these meetings. He touched the problem of corruption in the education system of Azerbaijan at none of these meetings. The Ministry of Education wants to discuss suggestions on the improvement of the education system and requests based on the specific facts about problems before they are made public by our country’s friends and partners and jointly evaluate the prospects of resolving the existing problems within constructive cooperation. It is regretful that the experienced diplomat voiced such general considerations announcing no fact and evidence.
