Azerbaijani intellectuals shine in Prague

Representatives of Azerbaijan’s Club of Intellectual Games “Icherisher” successfully performed at the “Crystal Golem” International Festival of Intellectual Games in Prague.

Supported by the country’s Youth and Sports Ministry, the Azerbaijani national team showed brilliant results in categories such as Brain Ring, “What? Where? When?”, and “Jeopardy!”.

The country’s “Slon v Udave” team, with Nigar Ibrahimova as the captain, won the Brain Ring, confidently defeating Israel’s “42” team with the score of 5:0.

Azerbaijan’s “Icherisher” team, in turn, won silver medal in the “What? Where? When?” game, giving in to the current world champions – “LKI” from Moscow.

Representative of “Icherisheher” team Alexander Korobeynikov was the winner of “Jeopardy!”, while Ilya Novikov (from “Baku” magazine team) came out the second and Aziz Murshudlu (“Icherisheher” team) the third.

The “Icherisheher” club, the flagship of intellectual movement in Azerbaijan, operates with the support of the State Historical Architecture Reserve “Icherisheher” under the Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers, and brings together about 30 teams, including Azerbaijan’s seven best teams out of ten in accordance with international ratings.

The club regularly holds tournaments and championships, and its teams participate in different international competitions, consistently gaining the highest results.

The “Icherisheher” club held the final stage of Azerbaijan’s Intellectual Clubs Association’s Cup in December, 2013, and plans to hold an international tournament on the “What? Where? When?” game – The 2nd Cup of Icherisheher- this summer.

Intellectuals from around the world participating in the synchronous games get acquainted with the text introducing the history and world values of the Old City of Baku. The best teams in the first three rounds will be invited to Baku to participate in the internal international tournament.

Azerbaijan will also host Caspian Cup 2014 international tournament on intellectual games on May 31-June 1. The event will bring together about 60 teams from Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Ukraine, Israel, and other countries.
