Azerbaijan joins Greco-Roman Wrestling World Cup

Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestlers will join the 2014 FILA Greco-Roman Wrestling World Cup to be held in Tehran, Iran, on May 15-16.

Led by head coach Jamshid Heyrabadi and coaches Mehrizad Esfandiyarifar and Akif Aliyev, Azerbaijan will be represented by Taleh Mammadov, Orkhan Akhmedov, Azad Aliyev, Hasan Aliyev, Rustam Aliyev and Rasul Chunayev.

Elvin Mursaliyev, Emin Akhmedov, Shahriyar Mammadov, Saman Tahmasibi, Araz Hasanov, Sabah Shariati and Valeriy Rodriquez will also represent the country.

This event will also bring together wrestlers from Russia, the Republic of Korea, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Turkey, Iran, Finland, Armenia and the USA.

Azerbaijan are drawn in B Group together with the Republic of Korea, Armenia, Iran and Finland, while Russia, Hungary, Turkey, the USA and Kazakhstan are drawn in A Group.

The top three teams will receive prize money. Thus, the first team will get $30,000, while the second and the third – $15,000 and $10,000 respectively.
