Ahmet Davutoğlu: “We had a talk in the Turkmen, Azerbaijani and Anatolian Turkish and perfectly understood each other”

Baku: The Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has congratulated Azerbaijan on the occasion of 28 May – Republic Day at a press conference held following the trilateral meeting in Baku, APA reports.

The minister said that the independence of Azerbaijan is Turkey’s sovereignty: “Turkey wants Azerbaijan to become an independent and powerful state. The same words go for Turkmenistan, too. Let the flags of these three states wave around the world together”.

Talking about the result of the trilateral meeting, Davutoglu said the meeting was very important, and that called it a pretty start: “In fact, the bilateral relation, Turkey-Azerbaijan and Turkey-Turkmenistan relations have always been very good. Trilateral meetings will continue as well. Leaders and foreign ministers of the three countries want this kind of meetings to be held more intensively”.

Davutoglu especially stressed that at today’s meeting, the sides held talks in the Anatolian, Azerbaijani and Turkmen Turkish: “We had a talk in the Turkmen, Azerbaijani and Anatolian Turkish and perfectly understood each other. We discussed the ways to continue our cooperation. In particular, we took into account the energy issues. We decided to meet twice a year. We believe that other Central Asian countries will join these meetings, too”.
