A brawl breaks out during operation carried out against peddlers

Many peddlers were beaten during a brawl broke out when municipal police carried out an operation, in which many goods were confiscated, against peddlers in Sirinevler neighborhood, located in Turkey’s economic hub city of Istanbul.

The incident took place at 23:00 when municipal policemen of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality jointly held an operation with riot police against peddlers at the square of the Sirinevler. Municipal police supported by riot police entered the square and seized the goods of the peddlers.

Meanwhile a peddler named Yusuf was assaulted and beaten very badly. Complaining attackers to a police director, Yusuf claimed that he was badly beaten by plain clothes men, was gotten on a car then thrown out from car to a roadside in Bakirkoy district.

During the operation, it was seen riot police used tear gas. At the end of the operation seized good was loaded to vehicles and removed from square.
