4 arrested, 3 released in gov’t-instigated UIak operation

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutorand’s Office has prepared a summary of proceedings that will allow pro-Kurdish Peoplesand’ Democratic Party (HDP)o-chair Figen Yanduksekdaiand’s parliamentary immunity from prosecution to be lifted so she can face charges of insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Yanduksekdai had earlier filed a complaint against Erdogan, accusing him of influencing the judiciary and giving it orders. This complaint was not accepted because it is impossible to launch any legal proceeding against the president except the crime of treason, according to the Turkish Constitution.
After the rejection of the complaint, Erdoganand’s lawyer filed a complaint against Yanduksekdai for directing and”baseless allegationsand” against Erdogan in her complaint. The prosecutorand’s office accepted the complaint and prepared the summary of proceedings, which has been sent to the Justice Ministry, media reports say.

According to the Cihan news agency, lawyers representing Erdogan filed criminal complaints against Mehmet A. and Ahmet A. on the grounds that their comments on social networks Facebook and Twitter constitute the crime of insulting the president.
After an order from a ianliurfa prosecutor who is responsible for prosecuting crimes committed via the media, anti-terror police officers detained the two individuals. After giving statements to the prosecutor, the suspects were referred to a court with a request for them to be arrested. The court has reportedly ruled to arrest the suspects.
