18 detained in operation against al-Nusra in central Turkey

Police officers detained 18 people in the Central Anatolian province of Konya on Tuesday in an operation against the al-Qaeda linked group al-Nusra.
According to the Dogan news agency, police officers from Konya Police Departmentand’s Counterterrorism Unit conducted simultaneous raids on 18 locations early on Tuesday following physical and technical surveillance against the suspected al-Nusra members. Security forces detained 18 suspects, including two women, who are said to be recruiting fighters for al-Nusra. There are individuals who participated in fighting in Syria and returned to Turkey after being wounded among the suspects who were detained, Dogan reported.
Organizational documents were also seized during the dawn operation. The suspects were taken to the Meram Teaching and Research Hospital for a health check and then to the counterterrorism unit for interrogation.
